Michael "Mike" passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 27, 2018. Mike grew up in the Tacony section of Philadelphia with his parents and siblings. Mike spent his childhood playing sports and running around the neighborhood with his many friends. Mike was an accomplished student and athlete. He attended Roman Catholic High School where he played football and was All-Catholic in track and field. After graduation, Mike attended Villanova University on an academic scholarship. Mike was an avid sports enthusiast and could talk endlessly about his favorite teams, especially the Washington Redskins. Mike was the most loyal friend and brother to all who knew him and will always be remembered for his huge heart and kind and gentle soul. Mike is survived by his loving parents, Susan and Edward McKenna, beloved grandmother Caroline Brandt, dear siblings, Edward (Kim), Kevin, Rosemary (Thomas), Stephen (Rachel) and Martin; nephew Kyle, niece Taylor, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his brother, best friend and partner-in-crime Luke. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday Evening 7:00 to 9:00 PM and also Thursday 9:00 to 9:45 AM, Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA, followed by his Funeral Service 10:00 AM. Interment - Resurrection Cemetery.
