Nicholas C. House, born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 14, 1955, peacefully went home to God on December 19, 2022. Nick was the first of twin boys born to Charles and Anna House. He graduated from Frankford High School in 1973. After graduation he drove and delivered Pizzas for his mother's Penn Del restaurant. Later, he worked for more than 20 years at United News, a magazine distributor in Philadelphia until the company moved out of Philadelphia. His love for his job was tempered after he had a work-related accident. Nick was an avid Eagles fan. He had a green Eagles sweatshirt he wore for years until it wore out. If he met another Eagles fan on the street, he would engage that person in an animated and excited analysis of the latest game or the prospects for the season. He attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church often and was the head usher there for a number of years. He was a spiritual man who was happy to recite lengthy Greek prayers from his childhood. He enjoyed music. He never married and lived at home until the house was sold in 2013. This marked a tough time in his life as he struggled to support himself and find housing. Nick loved to walk around the city. There were places he was fond to visit like where a street musician saxophonist played downtown. He was friendly and talkative. He had a certain innocence in his attitude toward others and the world. Nick was loved by family and friends. He deeply loved them in return. He and his mother had a special bond. He was close to his twin brother Tony. He enjoyed writing long letters about how things were going in his life. He is survived by his mother Anna House, his twin brother Tony (Ruth Ann) House, his older brother Steve (Rochelle) House, his half-sister Tonia Sabatini, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Charles C. House. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held at the Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114 from 10:30am to 11:30am on December 28, 2022, service 11:30 AM. Internment will occur at Oakland Cemetery, Adam and Ramona St., Philadelphia, PA on Tuesday, January 3, 2023; 1PM.
