Norman "Norm" Smith Thomas, 87, of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away February 24, 2018. Norm was born and raised in Palo, Michigan to the late Ray Thomas and Iva Thomas nee Dickinson. He relocated to Philadelphia Pennsylvania, where he was employed by the Philadelphia Police Department and was a member of the (FOP). He was proud to serve our country in the US Navy and was a member of The American Legion. Norm was a hard worker and always had two jobs to support his family. He cherished the time spent with his family. He enjoyed friends and being a member of the Friday Night Dinner Club.
Norm was the last living sibling and was preceded in death by his six sisters, Leona, Faye Ann, Jean, Helen, Geri, Maxine; and son, Lawrence Thomas.
Survivors include his wife Dolores Thomas; son, John Young of Wilmington, DE, daughter, Sharon (George) Wachter and her son, Tommy Gibbons of Frederick, MD, sons, Norm Thomas Jr. (Jeanne), of Bensalem, PA and Ray Thomas (Susan), of Philadelphia, PA; 7 grandchildren, James, Christopher, Norman, Jeanne, Raymond, Jennifer, Stephanie; great grandchildren, James, Sean, Ryan, Rachael, Johnathan, Emma, Erin; nieces, Nancy & Margie (twins), Vickie (Floyd) and numerous friends. Relatives friends and members of the FOP lodge 5 are invited to gather on Saturday March 17th, 11 AM to 12:15 Pm at the Burns Funeral Home 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila.Pa. 19114. Followed by his funeral service at 12:30 PM. Interment is Resurrection Cemetery.
