Obituary

Pat passed away at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late James Tobin, Sr. Loving mother of Patrice Walsh (Thomas), James, Jr. (Cathy), Sean (Marie), and Margaret McCormick (Joseph). Dear Gram of Lisa, Meghan, Thomas, Jr., Brittney, Abigail, Catherine, Molly, Joseph, Jr., and great gram of Michael Patrick. Sister of the late Leo Smith, Jr.

Patricia had a lifelong love of the beaches at the Jersey Shore, especially the Second Street Beach in North Wildwood. She attended St. Michael's Grade School in the Old Kensington section of Philadelphia as a young girl and later graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School. After graduation, she entered the Philadelphia workforce and worked as a teller for many years at the First Pennsylvania Bank located at Girard and Frankford Avenues in Fishtown. During that time period, she met her future husband James E. Tobin, Sr one evening at a dance on Hunting Park Avenue. The two were born and raised just a few blocks from each other but had never met prior to that social event. They dated for several years before marrying in the Fall of 1962. The newlyweds purchased a house in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia where they raised four children over the next several decades—Patrice, James Jr., Sean and Margaret. Patricia was also a longstanding and faithful member of the St Bernard's Church faith community. She provided a home with love, support and laughter for her family and always encouraged her children to be good to others and to do their best. Later in her marriage, she worked for a brief time for the Sears Department Store chain. As her children grew and became adults, Patricia decided it was the right time to take on a new challenge: earning a college degree. She then went on to earn Deans List honors and graduated with distinction from Manor College with a degree in Business Administration. Her family was immensely proud of her accomplishment. With degree in hand, she then worked for several years in healthcare administration and upon retirement spent much of her newly found free time traveling with her husband Jim to see the world. Visiting Ireland, Alaska and Hawaii—were just a few of their destinations. She always enjoyed celebrating family events, birthdays and family milestones throughout her life. She was a long suffering Eagles fan and was ecstatic when her favorite team won the Super Bowl in 2018. She was loved by her family, friends and many who got to know her as just "Pat" and will be dearly missed. All services and internment will be held PRIVATELY. A public memorial will be held at a later date when it is safe for all to attend.
