Paula A. Byrne, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother, passed away suddenly on Jan. 23. She was 57 years old. Paula is survived by Jim, her devoted husband of 32 years; daughters Danielle and Gabrielle; son Jimmy Byrne (Hailey); her father, Charles Johnson, and his longtime partner, Joan Mosler; sisters Linda Johnson and her longtime partner, Jerry Alfe, and Suzanne Moser (Paul) and brother Chuck Johnson; grandsons James and Theo; sisters-in-law Kathy Byrne and Susan Whelan (Gary); nephews David Moser (Cathryn), Gary Whelan and Patrick Whelan; and nieces Jennifer Moser, Jacqueline Moser and Melissa Whelan.

Paula was truly beautiful inside and out, with a smile that lit up the room, and her love and kindness touched many hearts. Paula and Jim found true love early and were nearly inseparable from the day they met as teenagers.

She was known to her family and close friends as "Weej," the nickname given to her by her amazing late mother, Ellen Johnson. Paula put family first and doted on young James and Theo, who called her "Mema." She had a huge heart and opened her home to many over the years. Paula loved hosting family parties, had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh, and made friends with strangers instantly. She loved animals, music, comedies and laughter. She also was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Paula graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in 1985, then worked for a dozen years at the Philadelphia Gas Works, where she rose to become the secretary to the company vice president. After the birth of her third child, she focused on raising her children for a time. She then returned to work, as a receptionist at Keystone Specialty Metals for about four years. In 2019, she became a receptionist at Penn Emblem Co., where she worked until her death. Paula was loved and cherished by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday Eve January 31, 2025 at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 9708 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114 from 6:00-8:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Katherine of Siena Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
