Raymond G. Dasch, 78, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to anyone that had the pleasure of meeting him, passed away on March 17, 2018 in Englewood, Florida, with his wife, son and daughter-in-law by his side.  Ray was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2013 and battled the disease proudly to the end.

Ray was born August 28, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to parents Harry W. Dasch and Marie A. Dasch.  He was twin brother to Harry Dasch.  He had an active, fun-filled childhood.  He enjoyed fishing, playing basketball, and loved spending time at a nearby quarry swimming with his friends during the summer and playing ice hockey during the winter.  His early love for horses transitioned with age into a love for cars and drag racing at the Langhorne Speedway.

Ray was an extremely hard worker and highly respected craftsman.  He spent most of his working years as a welder / welding supervisor with Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO), retiring on July 1, 1995 with over 30 years of service. When not hard at work, Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, often coupled with his competitive spirit for sports and love for the outdoors. He took to the softball field with the PECO Red Stallions. He was passionate about archery and shared this enthusiasm with the entire family, all of whom joined him as members of the Pheasdale Archery Club.  He loved to bowl in amateur tournaments with his sons.  He left his kids and grandchildren with a love for the water after spending countless hours with the family on one the many boats he owned over the years.  Ray was a skilled and patient fisherman, knowledgeable of the waters from New Jersey to Florida, from the Atlantic Ocean to Charlotte Harbor.  In fact, he became a certified captain while in NJ.   He also developed a true love for golf during his 20+ years of enjoying retirement in Florida. He cherished any opportunity to play, especially looking forward to golf trips with his son.

Ray became instant friends with practically anyone he met, was non-judgmental, and full of love for his family.  His daughter recalls every conversation ending with the words "I love you".  His words of wisdom to friends and family, were "go along to get along", which reflected his easygoing, non-confrontational approach to life.  He thought of himself as quite the handyman, and could fix just about anything provided he had a pair of pliers and a role of duct tape.  For those that had the opportunity to enjoy one of Ray's bloody marys, you would agree that they were the best you've ever tasted.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kay H. Dasch, his brother, Harry Dasch (Betty), niece Rachel Vargo (Brandon), his four children, Raymond A. Dasch (Karen), Diane L. Geiger (Mike), Robert J. Kelly (Amy), and Steven S. Kelly (Sandy), and eight grandchildren, Ryan M. Dasch, Eric R. Dasch, Andrew R. Geiger, Laura M, Geiger, Sean P. Kelly, Jack R. Kelly, Michael S. Kelly and Grace C. Kelly.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather Sunday, April 15, 2018, 12:30 PM, Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA, followed by his Memorial Service 1:30 PM.
