Richard "Dick" Blackburn passed away March 14, 2013, at Darway Eldercare in Forksville, Pa. He was 89.
Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Andalusia then in Levittown for 56 years before moving to New Albany, Pa. in 2011.
He was a veteran of World War II and served in Europe.
Dick worked at Pittsburgh Lithograph until retiring in 1988.
An avid Phillies fan, he loved to watch golf when Tiger Woods played. Most of all, he enjoyed Christmases, birthdays and babysitting his great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna (Cassidy); five brothers and their wives and two sisters and their husbands, Milton (Emily), Helen Coppens (Alois), James (Jean), George (Eleanor), Victoria Charitan (James), Robert, and Walter (Josephine); and two nephews, Ronald and George Blackburn.
Dick is survived by his brother with whom he resided for 48 years, Edward Sr. and his wife, Alice (Beffert); two sisters, Terese Palagruto (Frank) and Joan Daley (James); three nephews and two nieces, Edward Jr. (Mary), Kathleen (Joe Trago), Joseph (Sandy), Steven (Kelly), and Susan Wallover (Michael); and one sister-in-law, Holly. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing 7 to 9 p.m., Monday and also 9 to 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, at Burns Funeral Home, 1514 Woodbourne Road, Levittown, followed by his Service of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
