Richard J. Dechant, age 67, passed away August 31, 2011. He was a resident of Levittown, PA. He was a retired Sergeant, who had 30 years of service with the Middletown Police Dept. and also pioneered Middletown's K-9 Unit in 1967. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Mr. Dechant also is retired from the 111th Fighter Squadron of the Air National Guard Security Police, as well as from the Office of the Inspector General, where he worked as a Welfare Fraud Investigator.


Richard is survived by his loving wife Leslie. Beloved father of Richard, Keith, Gary (Nichole), Matthew, and Meredith (fiance Michael Marlin). Grandfather of Anthony. Also survived by nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Tuesday evening, 6-9 P.M. and Wednesday morning, 10-10:45 A.M. at BURNS FUNERAL HOME, 1514 Woodbourne Rd., Levittown, PA 19057. Funeral Service 11 A.M. Interment private.
