It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Dougherty, who left us on November 17, 2024, at the age of 79. Rich was the beloved companion of Patricia Mroz for 35 remarkable years. He was a loving father to Dena M. Disbot (Leo), Richard Jr., Rebecca Magnin (David), and Christopher, and a cherished "POP" to his grandchildren Marykate, Richard III, Brandon, Dylan, Nicolette, Jarrod, Haley, Casey, Matthew, Kyle, Jake, Leah, and Cadence and great-grandchildren Lila, Mia, Monte, and DJ.

Rich was a dear brother to Betty Kiker, Joan Dougherty, Donald, Patricia Moebius and Stephen. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother John. Rich is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will miss him deeply.

Born and raised in the Fishtown area, Rich spent most of his life there before relocating to Port Richmond. He was known for his passion for his Pepsi Cola, Philly soft pretzels, the Philadelphia Phillies and playing softball, particularly at Hetzell Playground in Fishtown, where he spent countless hours playing ball and connecting with his community.

A man of great warmth and humor, Rich's legacy lives on through the countless lives he's touched over the years. His love for family, his unique sense of humor, and his passion for sports were at the heart of who he was. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Burns Funeral Home (1428 E. Columbia Ave., Philadelphia PA 19125) from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by his Memorial Service. Interment will be private.
