Obituary

Salvador N. Manosca, age 55, passed away peacefully and pain free August 8th, 2018 surrounded by all of his loved ones. My father ended his 7 year battle with cancer, still fighting, because he was never known to be a weak man. My father was one of the few lucky people in this world who was blessed to do the work he loves, everyday. For 20 years, he worked for the Philadelphia Housing Authority, which is a company that helps build and repair the houses for those in need of the city's assistance. For those of you who truly knew him, you know that even on the weekends or holidays this man was still fixing, repairing, or building something because my dad didn't believe in sitting down. He could do everything needed to build a house from the ground up, and was the worker that would keep working while others took a break. My whole life I've heard many people he's worked with describe him as a superhuman of sorts while he worked, and as his son, I observed him as that in every aspect of his life. My father was the second youngest of over 14 children and yet many of his siblings looked to him for help or guidance. Whenever a problem arose my dad always had an answer or would figure it out and everyone around him knew that. My father arrived in this country at the young age of 21 to start a new better life for himself and his family. With family here in the U.S and others coming later on, he always did all he could to help out everyone in his family. He met my mother at the age of 25, and from there, his circle of whom he takes care of grew. When my sister and I were born, it became very apparent that he did not live his life for himself, he lived it for the 3 of us. My father worked hard to keep our family provided for while also teaching my sister and I values on treating others and putting family first. Family meant everything to my dad, and he made sure to let his immediate family and extended family know this as well. Unfortunately however long i make this, there are no amount of words that could do his true character justice. My family and myself will do our best to make sure my father is never forgotten because he will live on through us. In closing, i would pray you guys remember my father as a strong, brave, funny, kind hearted, and selfless man. Salvador N Manosca is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Manosca, his daughter, Sylvia Manosca, his son William Manosca, and his grandson Justin Powell.
