Sharon Fanning

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Fanning (née Buskirk), who passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at the age of 80, with her loving husband holding her hand.

Sharon was the beloved wife of Jack Fanning for 32 wonderful years, and their partnership, love, and friendship were the foundation of their life together. She was a devoted mother to Barbara Barry (Robert), Russel Barry, and Lisa Barry. She was a cherished grandmother to Joseph, Riley, Jaden, Leila, Sarah, Adam, Kristi, Morgan, and Jackie, and a proud great-grandmother to Ben and Oliver. Sharon is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, as well as all those whose lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and love.

A gifted professional photographer and self-taught artist, Sharon expressed her talent through an extraordinary range of mediums, including oil painting, watercolor, drawing, stained glass, crochet, and countless other forms of artistic expression. Her creativity knew no limits, and her work touched the lives of all who had the privilege of witnessing it. She had an innate ability to find beauty in the ordinary and transform it into something lasting and meaningful.

Sharon’s artistry extended into the kitchen as well. She was a passionate cook and an exceptionally skilled baker, known for creating meals and desserts that brought people together and made every gathering feel warm and memorable.

Above all, Sharon’s family was her greatest masterpiece. She cherished each moment spent with them and created a legacy of love, tradition, and devotion that will continue for generations.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19114. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon’s memory may be made to Shriners Children’s Philadelphia, Office of Philanthropy, 3551 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140, and would be greatly appreciated.

Sharon will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
