Sister Kathleen Patricia Haughey, SNDdeN

Sister Kathleen Patricia Haughey, 94, Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 75 years, entered eternal life on February 22, 2026, at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester, MA.

Sr. Kathleen, the daughter of Patrick M. and Eleanor (Boyle) Haughey, was born in White Plains, NY, on April 20, 1932. She is the sister of the late Therese M. Haughey, James P. Haughey, and John C. Haughey, SJ. She is survived by her sisters Isabel M. Haughey, OSF, and Eileen A. Harrington, her brother Daniel C. Haughey, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Sr. Kathleen entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame on August 6, 1950. During her 75 years in religious life, Sr. Kathleen taught in nine parish schools. She later became a Speech and Language Pathologist, working tirelessly for 31 years in many Catholic and public schools in Baltimore. Sr. Kathleen always ministered to the whole child. She went out of her way to provide whatever her students needed most: school supplies, social services, shoes and clothing, even eyeglasses.

In 2004, Sr. Kathleen began a new ministry as a Pastoral Associate, serving at St. Thomas More Parish in Baltimore until 2014. She brought her loving, positive, caring presence to young and old, becoming a much-loved central figure in the life of the parish.

In her later years in the fall of 2023, Sr. Kathleen joined other Sisters living at the St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich, MA. Sr. Kathleen was a welcome addition to the Ipswich community. She was a thoughtful conversationalist and an avid reader of periodicals, always keeping abreast of national and international news. The Sisters looked forward to her arrival (and her smile!) at meals and meetings, where she was unfailingly gracious to all.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Ave. Philadelphia, PA, preceded by a visitation at 10:15 AM. All are welcome to attend.

Burial will take place at a later date at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur’s cemetery in Ilchester, MD.
