With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Susan Marie Szewczak on April 21, 2025. Susan was the beloved daughter of Mary (née Rafter) and the late Richard Szewczak Jr. A devoted sister, she leaves behind Amy Mayer, Richard III (Barbara Ann), Christopher (Jill), and Matthew (Joselyn). She was a cherished aunt to Ashley, Ally, Chloe, Emma, Christopher, Makayla, Molly, Shane, Reese, Charlotte, Richie, Caden, Peyton, and the late Brady John. She will be deeply missed by her loving companion, Shawn Wells, and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

Sue lived a life full of heart and laughter. Known for her infectious spirit and unwavering loyalty, she was a dear friend to many and a bright light in every room she entered. For over 25 years, Sue dedicated herself to caring for others as a compassionate nurse at Frankford Torresdale Hospital, just steps away from where she grew up. Her commitment to her patients and community was nothing short of remarkable.

A proud graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School and Holy Family University, Sue carried her strong values and generous nature throughout her life. She loved summer days at the Jersey Shore, dancing and singing at concerts, and creating joyful memories with those she loved most.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Sue's life at her viewing on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 9708 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114. A second viewing will be held on Monday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Sue's legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in all who knew her. She will be forever missed and fondly remembered.
