Dorothy Theresa Ottinger, lovingly known as Terri, passed away on October 16, 2026, in New Market, Maryland. She was born on February 4, 1958, in Pennsylvania and grew up in Philadelphia, where she attended school and built the foundation for a life marked by hard work, devotion, and deep love for those around her.
Terri graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in 1976. In 1978, she married the love of her life, William Ottinger, beginning a partnership that would span nearly 48 years. Together they shared a beautiful life, and she remained deeply devoted to him throughout their years together.
She was a Warehouse Supervisor at Music and Arts in Frederick, Maryland, and brought the same dedication to her work that she brought to every part of her life. Terri was a woman of many interests and simple joys. She enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball, going bowling, reading, painting and drawing, going shopping, and turning everyday errands into an adventure. She also gave so much of herself to her family, spending countless hours driving her children to their hobbies and events, always making sure they felt supported and cared for.
More than anything, Terri’s life was centered on the people she loved. She was a beloved wife, mother, Grammy, and friend whose heart made others feel like family. Whether she was sharing a glass of wine, listening without judgment, or feeding a crowd at a moment’s notice, she had a rare gift for making people feel safe, welcome, and loved. She lived with kindness and found joy in life’s small but meaningful moments, especially watching her grandchildren play in her yard.
As a mother, she poured her whole heart into her family and made many sacrifices over the years for their well-being. Through life’s changes, including her family’s move from Philadelphia to Maryland, she was a steady and loving source of support. Her favorite role was being “Grammy,” and she embraced it with joy, energy, and endless affection. She truly delighted in spoiling her grandchildren, and the love she gave them will be carried forward for generations.
Terri is survived by her devoted husband, William Ottinger, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage; her two daughters: Laura Andrew (Travis) and Holly Eakle (Jacob); four grandchildren: Noah Eakle, Aleia Andrew, Anteja Andrew, and Allison Andrew; and four siblings: Regina Renshaw, Charles Phraner, David Phraner, and Lori Haggerty.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Kathleen Phraner and Kathryn Vigelis; father, Charles Phraner; father, Elmer Dettinger; mother, Dorothy Phraner; nephew, Nicolas Phraner, and her niece, Shannon Collins.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday December 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19114.
Terri will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the comfort she brought to others, and the way she made ordinary moments feel special. Everyone who knew her loved her, and her memory will remain a blessing to all whose lives were touched by her.
