Veronica V. Lake passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at the age of 98, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Helen Zachwieja, and wife of the late William F. Lake.
Veronica was the loving mother of Dr. William R. Lake (Patricia), Jeanette Dooley (Eugene), Veronica M. Lake (Raymond Mansfield), Daniel Lake, Margaret Feriozzi (Dennis), and Eileen Mulcahy (John). She was a proud grandmother to Dennis P. (Melanie), Clifford (Shawn), Raymond, Eugene (Margaret), Carolyn (Daniel), Elyssa, Grace (Roger), Amanda, Jonah, Dennis G., and the late Adam. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Denis, Stone, Hunter, Meadow, Nuala, Ethan & Eugene. as well as her great-great-grandchild Macklynn.
Veronica was the last surviving sibling of the late Anna, Mary, Albert, Julia, Catherine, Joseph & Theresa, and she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Kensington High School for Girls, Veronica began her professional life at the Pennsylvania Railroad, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Veronica's love for the annual Mummers Parade in Philadelphia was unmatched. Whether attending in person or watching from the comfort of her home, she was a dedicated fan of the vibrant spectacle, always filled with joy as the parade unfolded each New Year's Day. Her passion for life extended to her love of the Philadelphia Phillies, Bingo, and, most of all, her family. Her warm heart and infectious spirit made her a beloved figure to all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 259 Forest Ave, Ambler, PA 19002, from 9:00-10:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Veronica's memory may be made to the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) at 5817 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale, AL 35210 where she would watch her daily mass and pray the rosary.
