With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Walter Price Haggenbottom, III., age 88, who peacefully received his final checkered flag on December 12, 2024. Born March 10, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Walter Price, Jr. and Etta Victoria (Dorrian). He became a resident of Levittown, PA in 1962.
He leaves behind the love of his life Mary Rafferty (Breen) of 68 years, sons John (Jean), Michael (Tracey), and daughter Dawn (Jeff) Kreider. Grandchildren Roxanne (DJ) Wykes, Darrell, Julia and Jared. His sister Winiferd (Winnie), Lyall (Tom) and nephews Tim and Nate.
Walt enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1958 and is a proud United States Veteran. He began his career at Sears Co. as the shipping and receiving manager until he retired in 1995. He assisted teaching in the automotive classes at Bucks County Technical High School. Walt's true passion was auto racing which he started at Vineland Speedway under the alias of Walter Breene in 1959. This was the beginning of three generations of racing for his family. Walt was the first novice Director for Oaklane Quarter Midget Racing Club. He was also on the Board of Directors for United Racing Club. He was very passionate in sharing his knowledge of racing and enjoyed spending all his time with his children and grandchildren and racing at many tracks over the years.
Funeral Services will be private and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Walt's name to Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.
