Walter W., "Bro", age 45, passed away peacefully January 31, 2021. Treasured son of Walt and Maryellen (nee O'Reilly). Cherished brother of Joellen and Thomas Gillon; amazing Uncle 'BroBro" to Isabella and Jameson; leaving behind his "painfully" loyal dog Chewie.
Also survived by beloved "bonus" siblings Dorothy and John Kosick (Maisie) and Michael and Amy Gillon; and his "favorite aunts" and uncles Margaret Kelly (Jim), Betsy and Fred Holdsworth, godmother Clare O'Reilly, Sr. Joan Felicia, IHM, Dorothy and Tom Dearing, Terri and Lou Franco, the late Julie, Bill and Lisa O'Reilly, his godfather, Fran Paget (Janice), Debbie Paget (Jake) and the late Ann.
Walt was fortunate to love and be loved by many cousins and devoted friends. Walt was a graduate of St. Joseph's Prep, Class of '93 and a member of the 1993 Catholic League Championship Wrestling Team. He attended Penn State University and was a graduate of Frankford Hospital School of Nursing. Walt had a wonderful nursing career in the Emergency Departments at Temple and Jefferson Hospitals, and then began his "job of a lifetime" joining JeffStat as a flight nurse until his retirement. Walt loved coaching wrestling, Star Wars and Marvel, martial arts, concerts, golf, the firing range, paint ball, being Bella's Uber driver and the 45 summers he spent on W 22nd Street in NWW.
Our family is most grateful to his living donor Josie in 2011 and his generous lung donor in 2019 for giving us ten miracle years and to the dedicated teams at the Penn Transplant Institute and Harron Lung Center for their outstanding care of Walt over the years.
