William Charles Richmond, "Bill", a retired Philadelphia Fire Commissioner, passed away peacefully June 25, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. Bill was a Korean War Veteran, a Phila. Police Officer for 2 years, a Phila. Firefighter for 28 yrs., and the Philadelphia Fire Commissioner from 1984-1988. He was the recipient of the Pioneer Award from Frankford H.S. in 1986. After retiring, he was a fire consultant for TriData Consulting, Hecker Brown Sherry and Johnson, LLP, and Bucks County Municipality. His hobby was repairing antique watches and clocks.
He is the beloved husband of 53 yrs. to E.J. (nee Murphy). Loving father of Kelly O'Brien. Son of the late Edythe and Charles Richmond. Dear brother of Catherine DeGroote "Katie" and the late Margaret Capriotti. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives, friends, and members of the Phila. Fire Dept. Local 22 are invited to his viewing on Friday 6:30-9:00 PM and Saturday 9:30-10:45 AM at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Rd. Bensalem, PA 19020 followed by his Funeral Mass 11 AM. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Local 22 Charitable Trust Widows Fund, 415 N. 5 th St. Phila., PA 19123 or Fox Chase Cancer Center, Office of Institutional Advancement, 333 Cottman Ave. Phila., PA 19111.
