Searfoorce
September 7, 1930 – July 23, 2025
William J. "Bill" Searfoorce, age 94, was called by the Lord to join in his eternal reward on July 23, 2025. Having lived a blessed, long, and happy life, he and his beloved late wife Joan (nee Lavery) raised eight children instilling in them a deep respect for life. Bill was one of the lucky guys to have married a "Lavery lady" and leaves behind a beautiful legacy inspiring all who knew him.
Bill was the son of the late Otto and Margaret Searfoorce and brother to the late Arthur Searfoorce and Maryann Gallagher.
A loving father, Bill leaves behind Mary Ellen Shewchuk (Alex), Paul W. (Mary Jane), Anne R. Richards (Robert), Joan M. Tremblay, Patricia A. Gramlich (Jack), William J. Jr., Amy Dolan (Mike), and was predeceased by his son Mark (Laura O'Connor Searfoorce Beebe).
He was a devoted grandfather to 15 grandchildren: Billy, Brendan, Brian, Bridget, Carly, Christopher (Claire), Connor, Jacqueline, Julie (Andrew), Kevin (Theresa), Lily, Matthew (Brittany), Pamela (Meghan), Ryan (Olga), and Will. He was also a proud great-grandfather to 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear companion, Claire Sullivan.
Bill lived the American Dream. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in 1948 and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving stateside during the Korean War. Upon an honorable discharge from the Coast Guard, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University using the benefits of the GI Bill.
Bill dedicated his career in banking to providing families in the Philadelphia area with a solid financial head start. He later shared his knowledge by teaching Principles of Banking at Bucks County Community College.
Bill was an active member of the Gloria Dei Farms community. He had a deep love of Philadelphia sports—especially the Phillies. He enjoyed a well-made gin martini and never passed up a good oyster.
Family and friends are invited to attend Bill's viewing on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. at St. John Bosco Church, 215 E. County Line Road, Hatboro, PA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M., with interment at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Special Olympics of Montgomery County , 980 Harvest Drive, Suite 203, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
