William G. Shank, Jr., known to all as "Bill" or "Beaky", passed away peacefully at his home on July 29, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was 91 years old.

Bill was the cherished husband of Jean (nee Callahan), with whom he shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to William III (Linda), John (Marybeth) Teresa Shank, Donna Nilan (Rich), and Michael Shank. Bill took immense pride in being a grandfather to 9 grandchildren, a great-grandfather to 14 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandfather to 1. He is also survived by his dear brother, Howard Shank (Gloria), and a host of nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him.

Born and raised in Fishtown, Bill was a proud graduate of North. Bill served his country with honor as a Korean War Veteran in the U.S. Army. His dedication to service was evident in his years as a truck driver with Teamsters Local 107, where he worked diligently for 41 years. Bill also spent 22 years working with the Philadelphia Phillies, a position he held with great pride.

Bill's commitment to his community was remarkable. He served as a coach for the Fishtown Athletic Club and devoted 50 years as a referee and umpire for ARCO PIAA, earning a place in the Hetzels Playground Hall of Fame.

A man who loved his family deeply, Bill also cherished his trips to Clearwater, Florida, which brought him much joy.

Relatives, friends, and members of Teamsters Local 107 and the Philadelphia Phillies are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday August 3, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 701 Gaul St. (at Berks), Philadelphia, PA 19125, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Redeemer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill's memory to Holy Name of Jesus Church.

Bill's legacy of love, service, and dedication will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
